Should sports teams pay cultures to use their likeness??

culturetax]Major League U.S.A. Teams only are represented here.]
"To be fair there are other culture are represented (free of charge) There are team names derived from immigrant/settler groups, such as the Boston Celtics, the University of Notre Dame "Fighting Irish" and theMinnesota Vikings (the latter name was selected in reference to the Scandinavian settlers of that region), none of which belong on this list. The Irish and otherethnic groups in America were sometimes subject to marginalization, but not colonization. Colonization of the Celtic peoples in their native lands by the English did occur, but lies outside of the scope of this article. but none of them where colonized or slaughtered then sent to reservations, so its kinda not the same.
It would be nice if these Indian groups (indians do not refer to themselves as 'Native Americans' go to any reservation an call them that) were paid for the use of their culture. But untill then I'll just add it to the tab. Pay up Pro teams!"

All three existing NBA teams that previously used indigenous imagery have stopped doing so.
Portland Chinooks, Portland, Oregon, (International Basketball League)

Chicago Blackhawks (NHL) – Named for a World War I Infantry Division that in turn was named forSauk leader, Black Hawk, a prominent figure in the history of Illinois. In 2008, this logo was voted best in the National Hockey League by The Hockey News.

The trend towards the elimination of indigenous names and mascots in local schools has been steady, with two thirds having been eliminated over the past 50 years according to the National Congress of American Indians.
