Kim Kardashian and her family is no strangers to backlash, especially when it comes to cultural appropriation. At BeautyCon LA 2018, Kim set the record straight and opened up about the recent backlash she received over wearing braids.

"I’ve definitely had my fair share of backlash when I’ve worn braids," she said, according to People. "I’ve been fortunate to be able to travel around the world and see so many different cultures that have so many different beauty trends."

The Cambridge Dictionary defines cultural appropriation as "the act of taking or using things from a culture that is not your own, especially without showing that you understand or respect this culture."
